We are going to the Grand Canyon.  The dates are September 22-23.   This will be a family outing and Webelos fall recruiting outing.  See flier below for details.  The plan is to depart from Phoenix on the morning of the 22nd<\/sup> and drive directly to the Canyon.  We will do a day hike down and back up Bright Angel Trail.  After our hike, we will drive to our campsite at the KOA in Williams to set up and have dinner.  There will be a dessert competition on Saturday night. <\/p>\n

Troop 41 Grand Canyon Trip<\/strong><\/p>\n

Troop 41 is going to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon for our first outing of the year.  This is a family event, as well as a Webelos Introductory Outing to Boy Scouts.<\/p>\n

We will be staying at the KOA in Williams. <\/p>\n

Campsite numbers are T80B – T80G<\/p>\n

When:<\/u>           6:00 am, Saturday, Sept 22, 2018 from Madison #1 parking lot<\/p>\n

                        Return: Late Afternoon, Sunday, Sept 23 <\/p>\n

What: <\/u>           Saturday \u2013 depart Phoenix and arrive at the Grand Canyon for a day hike (Bright Angel Trail). Upon completion of the hike, we will drive to the campground at the KOA in Williams \u2013 set up camp, prepare dinner and have an inter-patrol dessert competition.<\/p>\n

                        Sunday \u2013 spend some time at the KOA (enjoying the amenities) before packing up and heading back to Phoenix.<\/p>\n

Amenities at the KOA include:
\nIndoor Pool 
\nHot tub
\nGo-Karts (For a fee)
\nMini golf (For a fee)
\nHorseshoe game
\nGame room
\nJumping pillow<\/p>\n

Cost:<\/u>              $30.00 \u2013 covers gas & campground fees.  Entrance to the Grand Canyon is free on September 22nd<\/sup><\/p>\n

Essential gear:<\/u><\/p>\n

                        Good pair of hiking shoes, extra hiking socks,                                            rain poncho, windbreaker, water bottles\/Camelback.<\/p>\n

Camping Gear:<\/u><\/p>\n

Car Camp \u2013 Tent, ground cloth, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, change of clothes, fleece or sweatshirt, toilet articles, sunscreen, hat, flashlight, kitchen by patrol.<\/p>\n

Food:<\/u>   Food by patrols:  Saturday lunch & Sunday breakfast. <\/p>\n

Lunches:  Sack lunch for Saturday and money for Sunday lunch stop. <\/p>\n
