Grand Canyon Family Outing

We are going to the Grand Canyon.  The dates are September 22-23.   This will be a family outing and Webelos fall recruiting outing.  See flier below for details.  The plan is to depart from Phoenix on the morning of the 22^nd and drive directly to the Canyon.  We will do a day hike down and back up Bright Angel Trail.  After our hike, we will drive to our campsite at the KOA in Williams to set up and have dinner.  There will be a dessert competition on Saturday night.

Troop 41 Grand Canyon Trip

Troop 41 is going to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon for our first outing of the year.  This is a family event, as well as a Webelos Introductory Outing to Boy Scouts.

We will be staying at the KOA in Williams.

When:           6:00 am, Saturday, Sept 22, 2018 from Madison #1 parking lot

                        Return: Late Afternoon, Sunday, Sept 23 

What:            Saturday – depart Phoenix and arrive at the Grand Canyon for a day hike (Bright Angel Trail). Upon completion of the hike, we will drive to the campground at the KOA in Williams – set up camp, prepare dinner and have an inter-patrol dessert competition.

                        Sunday – spend some time at the KOA (enjoying the amenities) before packing up and heading back to Phoenix.

Amenities at the KOA include:
Indoor Pool 
Hot tub
Go-Karts (For a fee)
Mini golf (For a fee)
Horseshoe game
Game room
Jumping pillow

Cost:              $30.00 – covers gas & campground fees.  Entrance to the Grand Canyon is free on September 22^nd

Essential gear:

                        Good pair of hiking shoes, extra hiking socks,                                            rain poncho, windbreaker, water bottles/Camelback.

Camping Gear:

Car Camp – Tent, ground cloth, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, change of clothes, fleece or sweatshirt, toilet articles, sunscreen, hat, flashlight, kitchen by patrol.

Food:   Food by patrols:  Saturday lunch & Sunday breakfast. 

Lunches:  Sack lunch for Saturday and money for Sunday lunch stop.
